Favourite soups & lazy Tuesdays

”Fuel your body with healthy, nourishing food that makes you feel alive.” This delicious african inspired sweet potato soup with peanuts and lentils is definitely a new favourite. It’s nourishing, perfectly creamy and full of flavour. My cup of tea. I’m usually all about making my own food, but when I don’t have time or just don’t feel like it I grab myself a soup or veggie stew from Spoons. Today I felt extra hungry (it has to do with the fact that I spent almost 2.5 hours at the gym yesterday) so I cooked myself some basmati rice, fried it in coconut oil with fresh coriander, kale and mushrooms. I added the soup to my bowl of rice and enjoyed it as a kind of sauce. Perf and absolutely delish! I love eating rice with some kind of spicy sauce, it’s the best! Carb lover as I am 😉 The soups from Spoons are really filling and contains a lot of yumminess and healthy ingredients. Two thumbs up! Especially on those days when I’m …

Random Tuesday thoughts

”Ambition is the first step to success. The second step is action.” Waking up early, before sunrise, although I don’t have to go anywhere might be one of my favourite things to do. My morning routines at the moment; drinking a big glass of lemon water -> coffee -> yoga -> enjoying a big nourishing breakfast -> I’m ready to conquer the day. I’m especially grateful for my mornings at home since I work at a cruise ship from time to time, and therefore not able to wake up in my own bed every morning. Area of interest: Personal branding & Brand image. I’ve always been interested in branding. Branding strategies shouldn’t solely be used by businesses and their products but also by the people. As an individual that striving to become successful in a certain area it’s of utmost importance to start incorporating personal branding. Your personal brand define what makes you different & unique. A healthy gut

A Happy Stomach = A Happy Mind There is nothing more annoying and exhausting than an unhappy stomach. Since I was 15 years old I have suffered from different kind of stomach issues (IBS – irritable bowel syndrome). The life of a person with a sensitive stomach is not always easy, but with time I have learned to cope with my symptoms and I have found out what works best for me; what food I should eat and what food I should stay away from in order to decrease all the disturbing symptoms. If I stay far away from processed foods, gluten and dairy my stomach is usually fine. However, a few months ago I started having problems with my digestion. Some days it is completely fine and my stomach is calm & happy, whilst other days my stomach is bloated and painful. It is not what I eat that is causing problems, it is that I’m eating. No matter how healthy the food is I get bloated and my stomach starts cramping. Luckily this does not happen every day, but when it does it is affecting my every day …

I like

”When it rains look for RAINBOWS. When it’s dark look for STARS.” I like spontaneous plans. And writing to-do-lists. I like rainy days and quiet coffee shops. And dreaming. I like sunrise and messy beds. And exploring new cities. I like having breakfast and drinking black coffee. And lifting weights. I like healthy eating and waking up early. And yoga. But most of all, I like finding joy in the simplest of things.

Every day is a fresh start

”A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.” 20 steps to a healthier you A green juice a day keeps the doctor away. Stretch. Eat more veggies. Laugh. Sleep 7-8 hours per night. Have a technology-free day a couple of days per month. Speak kindness. Go for a walk. Drink water. Exercise. Prep your weekly meals every Sunday. Stop buying unnecessary things. Help a stranger. Educate yourself. Travel. Talk to strangers. Meditate. Trust yourself and your capabilities. It’s never too late to start over – every day is a fresh start.  Be yourself.

What I eat in a day

The foodie in me loves the ”What I eat in a day” videos on Youtube. So I thought why not make a blog post about what I eat in a day. This is an example of a good day, usually an active day with a gym session and maybe even morning yoga or a morning walk. I try to eat 5 smaller meals per day rather than 3 bigger meals. I love snacking – can’t live without my afternoon snack! Furthermore, I opt for drinking 2-3 litres of water per day. Since I’m an active person I have quite a big appetite. Now, when I’m aiming for a more plant based diet I need to make sure I fill my plates with enough veggies, brown rice or sweet potatoes in order to feel full and have energy for my workouts. Brekkie – The best meal of the day. I try to start my mornings with a big glass of lemon water. It’s a great way to start the day, cleaning out all the toxins 😉 …

Be active

”Small progress is still progress.”   You don’t have to spend hours at the gym every day in order to be active. Some days all you need is a quick 30 minutes workout to break a sweat and keep the blood flowing. Keep it simple. Whether you decide to go for a run, do tabata exercises at the gym, take a power walk, complete a nice yoga flow or do some body weight training it’s important that you do something you enjoy doing. Listen to your body. Tips & Tricks for an active life It’s a lifestyle – being active should be regarded as a lifestyle; make it a habit. Make sure you’re active in your every day life; we tend to spend too much time in front of our computer or mobile phone – remember to move your body, stretch it out so you don’t get stiff. Don’t complicate things – Keep it simple! You don’t have to spend a fortune on expensive gym cards (although it could be seen as an investment for …

Sunday thoughts

”May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” – Nelson Mandela What is your passion? What drives you to do what you do? What makes you wanna jump out of bed each morning? When do you loose track of time? When are you the happiest? We all have passions, big or small. Things we love to do, things we wish we could do more often. Passions are like dreams; they fulfill us and keep us alive. Find your passion. Find your joy in life and live it. And choose to feed your mind and body with gratitude, respect and kindness. Every day.  I’ve been sipping on warm lemon water the whole day. I added honey, ginger, turmeric and cayenne pepper as well. It has to be the best drink ever, so refreshing. This creamy and tasty Peach & Coconut Smoothie is my kind of soul food, giving me that right kind of energy my body needs today. Not to mention these lovely Coco-Cashew-Lemon bliss balls. Try them! I’m passionate about early sunrise, when everything seems …

My favourite supplements

I opt for eating a versatile diet. Striving to eat as much plant based food as possible, however I eat egg occasionally. I find it important to feed the body with vitamins and minerals through clean, natural food and I prefer not taking too much supplements. Nevertheless, our bodies might need an extra boost so the ones mentioned below I eat on a regular basis. Vegan protein – When I’m extra active I like adding protein to my smoothies. I prefer pea protein or hemp protein. It also gives the smoothie an extra creaminess especially if you add plenty of ice. Spirulina & Chlorella – I prefer taking spirulina in tablet form but don’t mind adding chlorella powder into my smoothies. Spirulina is in my opinion more hard core and I find it much easier to swallow the tablets. Spirulina is rich in Iron, contains all of the essential amino acids and a large amount of vitamin B12. Both Spirulina and Chlorella increase energy so they are great before a workout. MSM powder – I’ve been taking MSM-powder …
