Green smoothie & raw chocolate

This smoothie is deliciously green, filled with spirulina, kale and spinach. Topped with crunchy blueberry cardamom granola and raw vegan chocolate from Loving Earth. A healthy treat indeed. I never thought that I would call a green smoothie a treat, but from now on I do. Who thought that greens and chocolate would complement each other so well. I guess opposites attract. It’s great to add some kind of healthy fat, like linseed oil, to your smoothies. Fat makes it a little bit easier for the the body to absorb all the lovely nutrients. We like that don’t we?! Green Smoothie Ingredients: A mix of frozen banana, kale and mango 2 dl tigernut milk A large handful fresh baby spinach 1-2 tsp spirulina 1 tsp linseed oil 1 medjool date Instructions: I think you know by now how to make yourself a smoothie – Just throw all them lovely foods into your blender and MIX! Pour into a jar and decorate with all kinds of yumminess. Annonser

Gratitude journal

”We rise by lifting others.” Every morning be grateful for a new day arising. Every evening be grateful for what’s been accomplished throughout the day. Every tiny victory. And we will be one step closer to reaching the stars. Today I’m grateful for waking up before my alarm went off. The sunlight kissing my cheeks. I’m grateful for taking time to enjoy my coffee without scrolling through Instagram. For choosing to listen to an inspiring podcast while taking my morning walk. I’m grateful for having the time to read books, books that inspire me to believe in everything I do. I’m grateful for smiling to strangers. For every dog I meet. For the butterflies.  ”A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.” I’m grateful for my body. The energy that flows. The blood that is pumping. I’m grateful for giving my body the vitamins and minerals it needs. For choosing the right food. For the sunlight. For the dark, dark chocolate. I’m grateful for how fast I turn …

Eat to glow

”Everything is a choice. Choose wisely.”   Food has a great impact on both our mind and body. Therefore my food philosophy (mainly) consists of a whole foods diet. I choose to feed my body clean, unprocessed foods as often as possible. I strive to eat a wide variety of colours and I strive to choose the foods that are good for me and that my body can digest properly. Food that makes me glow.  I use the word ”strive” since I’m far from perfect and I often choose to eat foods that might not be the best option for me. There are plenty of healthy foods that I wish I could eat on a regular basis without getting stomach cramps or feeling bloated. I love mangoes, medjool dates, apples, lentils, chickpeas, hummus and beans, but unfortunately these foods are not always the best choice for me and my body. With that being said, I strive to choose the foods that not only are healthy but also gives me energy and satisfaction – sweet potatoes, green …

Sundays are for coffee in bed

”Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing.”   Mornings. Waking up with the sunrise. Quiet, empty streets. The smell of fresh, butter croissants. It is suddenly warmer outside. And the coffee is hot. Too damn hot. But you need it so you drink it while burning your tongue. Mornings like these you could walk for hours. You do not need anything else this particular moment. ”Nature has never been more breathtaking”, the birds sing. A happy dog is rushing towards the ocean. Satisfaction overload when splashing through the water. Those little things – brings out the best in us.

A breather

My two weeks in Budapest have come to an end. It’s been two very relaxing and chill couple of weeks. The weather has been perfect – warm, but not too hot and the sun has been out almost every day. The last week I’ve been by myself, since my boyfriend had to leave for work. Spending time alone, in a city that’s rather unexplored is something I recommend everyone to do at least once. Although I’ve been here many times before, exploring the city on my own has been a very positive experience. This city is stunning. I’ve been… Walking, walking, walking Practising yoga Enjoying nutella donuts (one too many..!?) Observing people Doing crossfit  Spending rainy days at coffee shops Enjoying breathtaking views of the city Running my first 10 km in a very long time, and it didn’t feel too bad. Actually, it felt pretty amazing. With a steady pace I enjoyed a beautiful and tourist-packed pre summer evening Trying to overcome my fear of heights Loving every minute of the warm weather

Small changes to healthier eating habits

”The food you eat can be either the safest & most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”   Big changes don’t happen overnight. They take time and effort. However, small changes, each and every day, can make a big difference since they eventually will have a big impact in your life. As your small changes become habit, you can continue to add even more healthy choices. The desire to change can happen overnight, though it can be overwhelming to tackle everything all at once. ”Change is hardest in the beginning, messiest in the middle, and gorgeous at the end.” – Robin Sharma  It’s the consistent process that makes the difference. Consistency is key to successful results. Although health shouldn’t be regarded as something that has an end. Healthy living is an ongoing process, it’s a way of living. Firstly, change the way you’re thinking – Instead of saying ”stop doing” say ”start doing”. It’s a more positive way of thinking. The focus should be on what you’re gaining instead of what …

Put your hair up in a bun, drink some coffee and handle it

Just breathe, and have faith that everything will work out for the best.”   ignore nonsense talk less learn new skills help less fortunate laugh wake up with the sunrise work hard speak kindness be brave love deeply enjoy nature read books stretch have faith respect the environment travel learn a new language smile to strangers

Random Friday thoughts

”I may be quiet, but I have so much on my mind.”   Put a pair of sneakers on and walk. This morning I’ve been walking around, enjoying Budapest for almost two hours. Don’t think I’ll ever get tired of strolling around this gorgeous city. A great way to stay active while on ”holiday”. Always remember to pack comfy shoes! Blue Smurf @Double Shot. Double Shot café in Budapest has the best coffee in town. Although I love my coffee I found a new favourite – Blue Smurf; Coconut milk, algae and honey. Sweet and delicious. And while you’re here, promise you order the avocado toast. Top notch! Solitude. Spend more time alone. While it’s important, and beautiful, to feel connection and intimacy with others it’s also vital to once in a while seek solitude. Western culture tends to regard people who seek solitude as lonely, sad and antisocial. But seeking solitude can actually be quite healthy, while it allows you to reboot your brain and unwind, and gives you an opportunity to discover yourself and find …

How to get out of a funk

”When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”   A couple of tips & tricks for those down days when you lack motivation and feel slightly lost. Cause let’s face it, we all go through them. But remember, everything is temporary.  Go outside; There’s nothing as uplifting then to breathe in the fresh air. Spending more time outside will calm your mind, and makes your thoughts clearer. Enjoying the early hours while taking a morning walk will set good intentions for the rest of your day. Change your surroundings; If you don’t have the time or money to travel simple things like going to a different café or taking another path to work might just as well help you to see things from a different perspective. Move your body; Being physically active is important for both the mind & the body. Feeling stuck and unmotivated? Chase those endorphins! Create something; Write a short story, paint, bake a cake, attend a dance class, play an instrument. Do something your mind isn’t used to. Do not fare – …

Post workout smoothie

Raw cacao + Maca = A perfect match This chocolate protein smoothie is my favourite at the moment. There’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of chocolate and this beauty satisfies my sweet tooth. Sipping on this delicious smoothie makes the day a little better. And yes, the perfect recovery for my tired muscles post leg session. I used a vegan protein blend that I bought from a health food store here in Budapest (rice & pea protein with raw cacao and Maca). But you can of course just as well use raw cacao powder and Maca powder. Benefits of Maca root; Maca has a positive effect on hormone balance and energy levels. The root is well known to help with hormone balance that often contributes to improving the symptoms of PMS and Menopause. Historically it has been considered a very potent aphrodisiac and a traditional fertility secret of populations living in the Andes. Maca has a relatively high amount of absorbable plant-based nutrients, including protein, fiber, Calcium, Potassium, Copper, Zink, Iron, Selenium and Magnesium, …
