Dear September…

… you’ll be filled with power and heart. ‘She’s never alone with a soul full of heart. A sky full of stars, and a world full of hope. Never alone. Never afraid. With a soul full of passion.’ _____________ Linda With a gentle breeze you came, dear September. The wind so warm it makes our worries melt away. A mild and pleasant fall is a hundred times better than a cold and rainy summer. Dear September, embrace our hopes and dreams with your colourful and humble character. You’re exactly were you should be. Here amongst us. September is for faith. Love and compassion. It’s for knowing ones worth, and the ability to shine light in another person’s life. Taking care of the body, as well as the soul. Exploring new cities and friendships. It’s for constantly learning, constantly progressing. Small steps in the right direction. Appreciating every minute. It’s about the ability to inspire other human beings. Improving the quality of life. Challenging the body. Loving the body. Loving life. ‘Your greatness is not what …

Kale Smoothie

‘Don’t let the colour fool you. A green smoothie a day and you’ll become Wonder Woman.’   Linda I got the chance to make this lovely green smoothie today, just before my blender decided it was time to say goodbye. Oh well, we have had good times, many delicious and nutritious smoothies she have made. The taste is very ‘green garden’, but the banana gives a nice sweetness to it. Try adding almond butter in your kale smoothies. The perfect combination. A green smoothie a day keeps the doctor away.  Kale made me do it Ingredients: A handful kale A handful baby spinach 1 frozen banana 1 tbsp almond butter Plant-based milk 1 tsp chlorella powder Vanilla powder Instructions: Mix the ingredients in your blender until creamy. Pour into a bowl & decorate with granola, berries or nuts.

Headspace

‘Try not to overthink the process too much. Instead, enjoy the feeling of pausing to balance and catch your breath.’ ___________ Headspace   Stressed out? Meditation has been shown to reduce daily stress and perceived stress. A couple of days ago I’ve found this app called Headspace, a meditation and mindfulness app.  Since I’m new to meditation this app is perfect. I appreciate the simplicity of it – meditation made simple.  I must say I’ve been enjoying it very much, although it’s only been three days – it’s easy and you can choose from 3, 5 or 10 minutes sessions (the Basic theme). There’s definitely a theme for everyone since you can choose from different topics such as health, brave, happiness, work & performance, sport etcetera. The health theme has sessions such as anxiety, stress, sleep, depression, pain management while the work & performance theme has sessions such as productivity, focus, creativity and balance. The sport theme focuses on topics such as motivation, focus, training, competition, communication and analysis. Perfect for any athletes! There are also these …

Health Food & Other Stories

‘The most effective way to do it, is to do it.’ __________ Amelia Earhart   Update! After much thought and careful consideration I’ve decided to change my blog name, as well as my Instagram name. However, cleaneatingbylinda.com will still be the blog URL (at least for the time being). I’m still CleanEatingbyLinda though; I simply view the name change just as it is – a name change or more or less – Health Food & Other Stories by cleaneatingbylinda. While CleanEatingbyLinda is the brand name, Health Food & Other Stories is the blog name. After four years I felt it was time for some fresh vibes to sweep in and change things up. As I wrote in an earlier post: ‘Although CleanEatingbyLinda is evolving, growing up, the main purpose will always be the same as from the very beginning; A wish to inspire to a healthful and holistic lifestyle.’ ‘Health Food & Other Stories is going beyond eating clean. It’s about awareness. It’s about feeding the body, as well as the mind & soul. It’s about passion. It’s about listening to …

Eat for the planet

‘Early morning sunrise. I opened up my eyes and it got me thinking of you.’   – Linda   Dear sunrise, I heart you. I heart you like I heart the beauty of nature. The sound of the ocean, the whispers in the wind, the calmness of the forrest. The sky so endless it makes me believe in everything. I believe the sun will set every day, I believe it will rise. How can there not be magic with a nature so magical?  The main reasons why I strive to follow a plant-based diet; I’m doing something good for the environment – It might seem as baby steps, but when choosing to eat more greens I choose to believe in a greener planet. I might not be the most environmentally friendly person, however I strive to do my best. If all of us would choose to do something good for the environment it could end up as something powerful. ‘Eat less of conventionally raised poultry, pork, beef, or dairy products: Concentrated animal feeding operations have …

5 X favourites

‘Find the beauty in everyday.’   My 5 favourites at the moment: Turmeric – I’m obsessed with this anti inflammatory spice. I usually mix it with warm almond milk, cinnamon, black pepper, honey and coconut oil. I try to enjoy at least one cup a day. So heartwarming and comforting. Plyometrics – I’m all about those short & sweet intensive workouts; body weight plyometric exercises or interval training on the treadmill for both strength and speed. Box jumps, squat jumps, jumping lunges, burpees to mention a few exercises. Mádara skin care products – I found a new organic skin care brand and I’m in love. Their products are awesome and cruelty free. One of my favourite products is the Radiant Energy Organic Facial oil. It’s a radiance-boosting concentrate of 9 rare and precious dry oils. With ingredients such as Blueberry, Cloudberry, Cranberry, Blackberry, Black Cumin, Parsley, Pumpkin, Borage and Golden Jojoba seed oils it gives the skin a luxurious youthful glow. My skin loves it! Stretching – The best way to begin or end the day. My body is …

Random Monday Thoughts

‘Late evenings in August are for dark, dark chocolate, creative thoughts, thunderstorms and sunsets.’   This summer passed by so quickly. Even though it’s still a couple of weeks left we are moving towards autumn. These past months have been dedicated to work, work, work. I feel that a holiday would be much appreciated. Usually I’m not a fan of the autumn, but at the moment I must say that I rather look forward to a more ”normal” routine; more time for things that I actually enjoy doing (such as blogging, recipe testing, writing…) more time for planning and goal setting, more time for gaining further knowledge, more time for designing a future that will help me become more fulfilled. Simply more time. Although I feel rather drained at the moment I have confidence that everything will fall into place, eventually. You came with the wind, dear summer. Late. You came late. The air humid and remarkably heavy. The breeze so pleasant it blows away our worries. You have beautiful intentions, yet unreliable features. Darling …

And in the middle of my chaos there was you

‘She was the first day of summer, chocolate cake, fireworks and birthday wishes.’ Linda   ‘Her thoughts on a piece of paper and his vulnerable soul in the empty bed, gasping for air underneath messy sheets. Early morning fog brings peace to his heart. Her mere existence is what keeps him alive. Soft raindrops against the window make him slowly feel at ease. The intensity of her gaze, and he knows, her thoughts are real.’

Dear August…

… you’re beautiful from day one. ‘The now is wow.’ _________________________________________________ Linda August, I can’t believe you’re here already. Just as with June, I didn’t have the time to say goodbye to July. She was too cold, yet filled with laughter. Please, be warmer. Please be forever. The last month of summer and it’s still June in my heart. But one thing I know, you will be filled with love, dear August.  August is for chasing dreams. Catching stars. Peaceful, dark summer nights. August is for late evening swims, for enjoying the calmness of the sea. Home made bread and fresh blueberries. August is for creativity. An imagination deeper than ever. The dark, dark sky filled with stars. August is for believing in the power of nature. The power of humanity. August is for humid days and foggy nights. For being in the present moment, appreciating every second. August is for beautiful souls searching for inner peace. Inner light. August is for kindness. August is for curiosity and being brave. ‘The earth has music for those …
