Exercise Your Mind – Free Write

‘Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.’   Whenever I need to find some new inspiration, and allow new thoughts to enter I free write. It can be about absolutely anything. It can start from a word that I like, from a song, from a conversation I overheard at the coffee shop or from nature. It can grow from anything. Writing is exercise for the mind. As important it is to exercise our bodies it is equally important to exercise our minds. You don’t have to write in order to challenge your mind; you can learn a new language, study a new subject or meditate – simply do something that your mind isn’t used to. Allow your mind to stay open for any ideas to enter, whatever ideas they might be – let them come. Don’t analyze them too much; they’re just thoughts. In the end they will simply be words written on a piece of paper. A piece of paper that eventually will end up in the garbage. Step …

You are a powerhouse

‘You’ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.’ – The Wizard of Oz There are days when you need to hear that you are amazing, fabulous, extra ordinary, smart, fearless and absolutely wonderful. And the person who needs to tell it to you is you.   ‘No one is you and that is your superpower’   Today I ask you to tell yourself that you can do anything, anything, you set your mind to. I ask you to believe that you’re exactly where you need to be right now. I ask you to tell yourself that you’re smart, creative, courageous and funny. I ask you to tell yourself that you’re strong. Tell yourself that there’s beauty and happiness surrounding you. Tell yourself that there’s plenty of love on Earth. Kindness. I ask you to know your worth. I ask you to tell yourself that you’re magic. Tell yourself that there’s magic wherever you lay your eyes. You’re capable of creating magic. It’s all inside. And how wonderful it is that you …

Ta hand om skogen

‘And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul.’

Grateful

‘The secret to having it all is knowing you already do.’   I’m happy when I write, when I help someone, when I eat fresh fruit, when I see a happy dog, when I’m in the kitchen, when I spend time with people I love, when I wake up after a good night sleep, when I’m in nature, when I stretch, when I dance like nobody is watching. I’m glad to have friends, family, a warm bed, clean water, comfy shoes, a healthy body and food in my fridge. I love being able to travel, to learn something new every day, to meet people from different cultures and to have a good education. I’m inspired by people who dare to follow their dreams, I’m inspired by kindness, love and courage. Life is full of ordinary things. But despite their simplicity they mean everything. Because without the ordinary, life would be empty. There are plenty of reasons to smile every single day. If you have clean water, food, a home and family, then you have …

Stillness speaks

‘Sometimes when we just stand still the grace finds us.’ – Unknown   It’s a good idea to seek stillness from time to time; Especially when things get too much, or when you simply wish to find focus and motivation. The constant need of being online 24/7 affects even the best of us. When feeling stressed out from school, work or just normal life-obligations it’s vital to take a step back, and travel in the passenger seat for a while. Unplug and unwind – if only for a couple of hours. You’ll feel recharged and ready to take on the world again. Benefits from seeking solitude and stillness:   Being by yourself with no distractions gives you the chance to clear your mind, focus and think more clearly. When seeking stillness you allow your brain to think more deeply. You might for example struggle with a challenging task and are seeking good ideas on how to proceed. When you allow your brain to unwind, and think more deeply, you allow your creativity to come alive – which …

Pumpkins & Halloween

‘By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.’ – William Shakespeare, Macbeth   Is fall my new favourite season? It might well be. However, I do still love summer, but autumn… I believe you stepped up your game. Halloween & pumpkins – Let the festivities begin! And how can one not fall in love with October? Dark nights, colourful days, fuzzy socks, books, creative writing, candle lights, spicy soups, a sky full of stars, cosy sweaters and ice cold fingers. If I only had a dog. Then it would be picture perfect. Ha! One can at least wish… Photos: Emelie Lassfolkh

Breathing in the crisp air

‘When seeking pure awareness the best thing one can do is to silently witness the beauty of nature. How effortlessly she’s unfolding her treasures. So transparent, yet so forceful. Copy her, and let yourself be amazed.’   – Linda   The best thing one can do to relax and unwind is to spend some precious time close to nature. Especially those days when she’s picture perfect, taken straight from a fairy tale; Crispy autumn breeze, colourful leaves and the October sun caressing our souls. Whenever I’m in doubt, or in need of some motivation & inspiration, I usually go for a walk and breath in the nature. It works wonders, every time. She’s magic, no doubt. After a 90 minutes walk I’ve been sipping on a large, green smoothie, cleaning out my closet, editing pictures, writing, and thinking about going to the gym. Weekends like these, when October is spoiling us with her kindness, I’m very grateful for crispy, sunny autumn days. Heartbeats You’re not here, but that’s simply because you’re in my heart. I …

What I learned working in Customer Service

‘A simple act of kindness costs very little, but the dividend is remarkably powerful.’   – Linda   Most of my adult years I’ve been working in customer service, either as a full-time job or as a part-time job while studying. You might not expect a slightly introverted person to be working in customer service, but besides being more of an introvert I’m very kind-hearted, and I don’t mind helping people. In other words; I thrive off being able to help others. Even though some of the jobs drove me a bit crazy at times I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it weren’t for all the experiences I’ve gained. In my opinion working in customer service is a wonderful life lesson. It’s a perfect way to learn more about human beings and the way we behave in different situations. With that said, I’ve gathered some of the most important things I’ve learned after many years of serving people. Don’t take anything personally  What a person says to you says more about the …

On weekends we rest

‘Don’t ask yourself what the world needs – ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.’ – Howard Thurman   On weekends we rest our souls, breathe in the crisp air while taking long walks, wear fuzzy socks and read forgotten books. We let ourselves come alive. We let ourselves unwind and recharge. Welcoming the new week with enthusiasm.  The importance of taking time out; Figuring out what makes you thrive, what makes you come alive. We need these days – days dedicated to ourselves, our wishes, and needs. It’s not selfish, it’s essential for a fulfilling life, for fulfilling relationships. Important questions to ask oneself: What makes me come alive? When am I completely relaxed, completely content? When I was a child, what did I do just because I loved it? When your cup is full, in other words, when you’re happy & content with what you’re doing, and when you allow yourself to do the things you enjoy doing …

How to get your inspiration back

‘You don’t have to look far in pursuance of success. You have it in you. Sometimes you just have to dig a little deeper in order to find it.’ ___________ Linda Sometimes we work too hard, not allowing ourselves time to breathe, time to pause and reflect. And despite all the hard work we put in, we don’t seem to get anywhere. Yes we work hard, but do we work smart? I’ve noticed that when I put aside time doing the things I love, things that improve myself and boost my confidence, I also notice the inspiration flowing more effortlessly. Over the past couple of months I’ve introduced some new habits, and picked up old ones that I’ve neglected. I’ve done my research, and through trial and error I found out what works best for me. I’ve listed 5 changes, or habits, to make my days more successful, more inspirational. Maybe there are a few you can start now. Broaden your horizons and learn something new. I stumbled upon Skillshare the other day, and I …
