Simple tips to improve your diet

‘You gotta nourish to flourish’

 

Eating well is a form of self-respect. However, when life passes by in high speed, and each day feels like a roller coaster, making healthy choices might not be your number one priority. When you’re stressed out and overloaded with work and responsibilities it’s even more important that you take care of your body.

Eating healthy is a lifelong goal, but that doesn’t mean it has to take ages before you see any results. In fact, there’re a few simple and easy changes you can start making already today – making a bunch of little changes to the diet you’re already following is one of the best ways to get results.

Below you’ll find a few of my favourite nutritional tweaks. Let’s build wellness rather than treating disease!

 

Simple & Easy Ways To Improve Your Diet

 

Drink water. I immediately notice when I haven’t been drinking enough water – I have trouble concentrating, no energy and get easily bloated. Every time I’m dehydrated I’m reminded of just how important water is. Water is life. Start your morning with a big glass of lemon water – the simplest way to improve your health.

Stay away from packaged food – Eat real, whole foods; ”Good nutrition creates health in all areas of our existence. All parts are interconnected.”  – T. Colin Campbell. Cook your food, since homemade meals are the best ❤  If you don’t understand the ingredient list – don’t eat it.

Eat mindfully; When it’s time to eat focus fully on the food in front of you, don’t watch TV or work at the same time. When you practise mindful eating you’ll most likely stop eating when you’re full. It’s very easy to over-eat when you watch TV at the same time. Be present while eating.

If you crave sugar have blueberries; Berries are not only filled with antioxidants and vitamins they’re sweet and yummy as well. Sweeter than candy, better than candy 😉

Every week try a new vegetable or try out a new healthy recipe; Every time you eat is an opportunity to nourish your body. Think the rainbow. Fill your plate with colourful veggies – every cell of your body will thank you. Kale salad with dried cranberries, walnuts and sweet potato with a lovely tahini dressing is a great dish on the Christmas table.

Write down these words and introduce them as your everyday mantra – ”Food is fuel. Food is medicine”; Health is much more dependent on our habits and nutrition than on medicine. Without food you would die. Nevertheless, the wrong foods can be one of the reasons you might suffer from chronic illness. Fill your plate wisely – food plays an important role in maintaining good health. There’re a lot of things in life you can’t control, nonetheless, you can control what you put into your body.

 

It takes 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to create a lifestyle. And remember a little progress every day adds up to big results.
