Random Saturday Thoughts

‘Always be you. Stop trying to please others, just to be accepted by others. Please yourself. Always please yourself.’ ____________ Linda Perfectly random thoughts. When the mind is constantly talking to you it’s good to calm it down. Just rest, let it be. Get it out. The power of thoughts. It’s a creative power, which you can strengthen with a little bit of effort (or sometimes a lot) and use to make changes in your life. Be careful of what you think. Good thoughts, positive thoughts, create a positive life. Be impeccable with your words. Choose them wisely – The words you use to describe yourself and the words you use when talking to others. Success. The meaning of success in the Cambridge English Dictionary; ‘The achieving of the results wanted or hoped for.’ ‘Something that achieves positive results.’  However, we should all live our own definition of success. Success is more of a path than a destination. It’s less about the having and more about the being. Nothing outside of us will ever make us …

The power of now

‘You don’t have to move mountains in order to find the answer. Sometimes all you need is to embrace the stillness. Listen to that inner voice. It knows the way. It always does.’ _____________ Linda 5 things I noticed after meditation I’ve introduced a new habit. A new daily routine. Meditation. For 20 days straight I’ve been dedicating 5-15 minutes a day to meditation. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Already after 5 days I noticed how easily it had become a new habit of mine. A habit I most likely will stick to, like brushing my teeth. A sense of calmness. I might seem as a calm person on the outside, nevertheless, on the inside, my mind is constantly chatting. I easily get anxious, nervous and caught up in negative thoughts, but meditation has helped me a lot already, only after 20 days. Some days though, I can’t seem to concentrate at all, and the 5 minutes of meditation seem more like 5 hours. However, most of the time the time flies …

HEART-WARMING SOUP & WEEKEND

‘I notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature.’ ______________ Friedrich Nietzsche Spicy, creamy soups are perfect for chilly autumn evenings. Perfect for today. I was too lazy to cook though. The changing of the seasons always makes me slightly unwell, or it feels like my body is drained of all energy. But I was lucky since I got to try the new indian red lentil soup from the  company Spoons. ❤ I just chopped up some veggies; broccoli, bell pepper and kale, fried it in olive oil and mixed together with the soup. And the soup! It’s really delicious – creamy and sooo perfectly spicy. I’m totally fond of lentil soup. One of my favourite dishes. The other day I baked the best banana bread, or should I say banana cake. For the recipe click here. It’s very easy to make and the taste is perfectly sweet, absolutely amazing. Since I’m home alone I’ve been feeding my tired body banana cake the past few days. Cant really complain. Soul food …

5 THINGS I LIKE ABOUT FALL

‘It’s during rainy nights his soul wanders away, leaving him with nothing but thoughts of her. Early morning the sun comes out, his soul returns and she’s gone.’ ______________ Linda   The tranquility that suddenly appears. A sense of calmness arrives when the evenings get darker. Candle lights are burning inside while the nature is changing its colours. Heavier rains, stronger, brisk winds and a mind at ease. Heart-warming soups & spicy veggie stews. Even though I love a creamy smoothie bowl my body is longing for warm, flavourful foods when the days get colder. How wonderful isn’t it to cuddle up with a spicy dish after an hour walk breathing in the cool, crisp air. Nature at its finest. I’m definitely a summer person, but I have come to appreciate the fall more and more. Especially September. The colours of the trees, the fresh air and cooler nights. A creativity that blossoms. Take today for example – It has been raining non stop. I tried going outside but I almost blew away, and by the time I got …

Dear September…

… you’ll be filled with power and heart. ‘She’s never alone with a soul full of heart. A sky full of stars, and a world full of hope. Never alone. Never afraid. With a soul full of passion.’ _____________ Linda With a gentle breeze you came, dear September. The wind so warm it makes our worries melt away. A mild and pleasant fall is a hundred times better than a cold and rainy summer. Dear September, embrace our hopes and dreams with your colourful and humble character. You’re exactly were you should be. Here amongst us. September is for faith. Love and compassion. It’s for knowing ones worth, and the ability to shine light in another person’s life. Taking care of the body, as well as the soul. Exploring new cities and friendships. It’s for constantly learning, constantly progressing. Small steps in the right direction. Appreciating every minute. It’s about the ability to inspire other human beings. Improving the quality of life. Challenging the body. Loving the body. Loving life. ‘Your greatness is not what …

Headspace

‘Try not to overthink the process too much. Instead, enjoy the feeling of pausing to balance and catch your breath.’ ___________ Headspace   Stressed out? Meditation has been shown to reduce daily stress and perceived stress. A couple of days ago I’ve found this app called Headspace, a meditation and mindfulness app.  Since I’m new to meditation this app is perfect. I appreciate the simplicity of it – meditation made simple.  I must say I’ve been enjoying it very much, although it’s only been three days – it’s easy and you can choose from 3, 5 or 10 minutes sessions (the Basic theme). There’s definitely a theme for everyone since you can choose from different topics such as health, brave, happiness, work & performance, sport etcetera. The health theme has sessions such as anxiety, stress, sleep, depression, pain management while the work & performance theme has sessions such as productivity, focus, creativity and balance. The sport theme focuses on topics such as motivation, focus, training, competition, communication and analysis. Perfect for any athletes! There are also these …

Health Food & Other Stories

‘The most effective way to do it, is to do it.’ __________ Amelia Earhart   Update! After much thought and careful consideration I’ve decided to change my blog name, as well as my Instagram name. However, cleaneatingbylinda.com will still be the blog URL (at least for the time being). I’m still CleanEatingbyLinda though; I simply view the name change just as it is – a name change or more or less – Health Food & Other Stories by cleaneatingbylinda. While CleanEatingbyLinda is the brand name, Health Food & Other Stories is the blog name. After four years I felt it was time for some fresh vibes to sweep in and change things up. As I wrote in an earlier post: ‘Although CleanEatingbyLinda is evolving, growing up, the main purpose will always be the same as from the very beginning; A wish to inspire to a healthful and holistic lifestyle.’ ‘Health Food & Other Stories is going beyond eating clean. It’s about awareness. It’s about feeding the body, as well as the mind & soul. It’s about passion. It’s about listening to …

Buddah Bowl

‘Mother Nature isn’t immortal. She’s screaming for your affection. Your respect. Beautiful, yet so fragile, she’s crying. Hug her. Please, hug her gently. She’s beautiful, but for how long.’ ___________________________________________________ Linda Since I’ve been feeling slightly under the weather today (don’t know why!?) I felt like having a big bowl of goodness for dinner. A rainbow bowl. Deliciously filling, and deliciously nutrient dense. I’m feeling better already after enjoying this lovely, nourishing buddha bowl. At least I’m trying to convince myself of that. It will most likely be an early night. Anyway, promise you’ll make this beautiful bowl. If only cause the tahini-dressing goes very well with the veggies. Dix points. Nourishing Buddah Bowl Ingredients: (the amount depends on how many you’re feeding) Sweet potato Pumpkin Broccoli Quinoa Mushrooms Bok choy Cherry tomatoes Garlic Black & white sesame seeds Himalaya salt & pepper Chili Instructions: Cook the quinoa according to the instructions on the package. Chop the sweet potato into chunks and cook until soft. Chop the vegetables, mushrooms and garlic. In a frying pan fry the …

‘I will talk to you words of honey.’ ___________________________________________________ Linda   About four years ago I started my blog CleanEatingbyLinda. It all began as a final project while I was studying media-production & journalism at the university in Stockholm. My vision was to offer gluten and dairy free recipes, as well as refined sugar free desserts. The site, as well as myself, has both grown and developed quite a lot since. Even if I haven’t been updating regularly during these four years, neglected it for longer periods of time, I’ve always thought of it as my precious baby. But, it’s not a baby anymore… Although CleanEatingbyLinda is evolving, growing up, the main purpose will always be the same as from the very beginning;  A wish to inspire to a healthful and holistic lifestyle. However, the CleanEatingbyLinda of today is going beyond eating clean. It’s about awareness. It’s about feeding the body, as well as the mind & soul. It’s about passion. It’s about listening to your own, unique body. It’s about writing and following dreams. It’s about …

Eat for the planet

‘Early morning sunrise. I opened up my eyes and it got me thinking of you.’ ___________________________________________________ Linda Dear sunrise, I heart you. I heart you like I heart the beauty of nature. The sound of the ocean, the whispers in the wind, the calmness of the forrest. The sky so endless it makes me believe in everything. I believe the sun will set every day, I believe it will rise. How can there not be magic with a nature so magical?  The main reasons why I strive to follow a plant-based diet; I’m doing something good for the environment – It might seem as baby steps, but when choosing to eat more greens I choose to believe in a greener planet. I might not be the most environmentally friendly person, however I strive to do my best. If all of us would choose to do something good for the environment it could end up as something powerful. ‘Eat less of conventionally raised poultry, pork, beef, or dairy products: Concentrated animal feeding operations have significantly higher …
